Dear Friends, Thanks for many responses to my request on my birthday. I hope you will find the following interesting and also give me your comments. John F. Thie, DC February 2001 To Your Health From the Journal of Scientific Exploration, Volume 14, No.3, pp. 353-364 by Bengston and Krinsley...hold onto your hats, boys and girls!! Abstract: After witnessing numerous cases of cancer remission associated with a healer who used "laying on of hands" in New York, one of us (WB) "apprenticed" in techniques alleged to reproduce the healing effect. We obtained five experimental mice with mammary adenocarcinoma...which had a predicted 100% fatality between 14 and 27 days subsequent to injection. Bengston treated these mice for 1 hour per day for 1 month. The tumors developed a "blackened area", then they ulcerated, imploded, and closed, and the mice lived their normal life spans. Control mice sent to another city died within the predicted time frame. Three replications using skeptical volunteers (including DK) and laboratories at Queen's College and St Joseph's College produced an overall cure rate of 87.9% in 33 experimental mice. An additional informal test by Krinsley at Arizona State resulted in the same patterns. Histological studies indicated variable cancer cells through all stages of remission. Reinjection of cancer into the mice in remission in Arizona and New York did not take, suggesting a stimulated immunological response to the treatment. Our tentative conclusions: Belief in laying on of hands is not necessary in order to produce the effect; there is a stimulated response to treatment, which is reproducible and predictable; and the mice retain an immunity to the same cancer after remission. Future work should involve testing on various diseases and conventional immunological studies of treatment effect on experimental animals." My comment: I wonder how much benefit would come about if every patient that had a serious disease had one hour of laying on of hands with the intention of healing? Does the beneficial effects we experience have multiple reasons including touching the most effective reflexes, intention and will. With human being I believe that the feedback we get from muscle testing and the subjective rating of goals before and after balancing has a great effect on starting the "healing system." What is your opinion and results with working on people with serious problems on a daily basis? Battling Fatigue as We Age An Interesting article from Liao S, Ferrell BA. Fatigue in an older population. Journal of the American Geriatrics Society 2000: Vol. 48, pp426-30, gives the following information about how much fatigue is part of the elderly population life experience. How serious is the problem? According to a study in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, very serious. A survey of 199 residents at a residential care facility revealed that almost all of the participants reported some fatigue symptoms: 51% reported mild fatigue, 40% reported moderate fatigue, and 7% reported severe fatigue. Fatigue also influenced depression, activities of daily living, pain, medication use, and the ability to perform a three-minute walk. Even more distressing, one in four seniors reported suffering chronic fatigue (1-5 years), and 11% reported fatigue lasting more than five years! My comment: Many people that I have worked with over the years have found that having a routine of using TFH muscle balancing reduces fatique to a great extent. I personally use it extensively doing a meridian massage in the shower every morning along with the visual inhibition and auricular exercises. I find that this routine along with walking a couple of miles at least 3 times a week makes a big difference. Carrie and I also exchange balances several times a week. What has your experiences been with relief of fatigue in yourself or in people with whom you work? Dr John Thie DC, Malibu California |
